History[edit | edit source]

Alternative Airlines is a family business founded in 2007.[3] Its parent company, Flight Directors, was founded in 1984.[8] Flight directors is an airline General Sales Agency, specialising in airline sales and marketing, airline reservations and charter consultancy. Alternative Airlines was created by the founders of Flight Directors as an in-house, online travel agency, in order to expand their digital platforms and promote their airlines.[9] Since the company rebranded in 2015, Alternative Airlines has seen a consistent rise in net worth,[10][11] and recognition within the industry[12] which has lead to the expansion of the business from just 4 employees in 2015 to 12 permanent members of staff. In 2017 Alternative Airlines won a best selling travel agent award for their work with Tianjin Airlines[3]

Due to its close relationship with flight directors, Alternative Airlines has developed close relationships with a variety of airlines, assisting with social media campaigns, customer service and promotions.[13]
