Amader Choto Russel Shona (Bengali: আমাদের ছোট রাসেল সোনা) is a 2023 Bangladeshi animated feature film, based on the life of Sheikh Russel, the youngest child of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father and first President of Bangladesh. The film was produced by the Information and Communication Technology Division and jointly directed by Rubens Rahman and Rubayet Mahmud.
The film covers the short life of Sheikh Russel from birth to assassination.
Plot
The film focuses on the perspective of Sheikh Russel as a child and how curious and courageous he was as a child.[1] He, born on 16 October 1964 in Dhaka, was the youngest son of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He was a lively member of his family, including his father, mother, sisters, brothers, and brother. First being shown before the liberation of Bangladesh and introducing the protagonist, also what personality he was as a child, and second being during the liberation ending on victory. The last act will be Russel traveling around the world and ending with the tragic incident of 15 August. On that day, he was assassinated in a domestic and foreign conspiracy.[2]

Production
The film was produced by ICT Division of Government of Bangladesh to observe the 59th birth anniversary of Sheikh Russel. The film is based on Amader Choto Russel Shona, a book written by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the elder sister of Sheikh Russel.[3] She herself also wrote the screenplay.[3]
Release
The trailer of the three-dimensional animation film was released on an award giving ceremony of ‘Sheikh Russell Padak’ on 18 October 2022 on the day of his 58th birthday. The trailer was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.[3] The film was screened at 3:00pm at Bangabandhu Military Museum in Dhaka on Russel's 59th birthday on 18 October 2023. State minister of ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak enjoyed the movie with underprivileged children.[4] The film was premiered on YouTube on 26 October 2023[5] and released on almost all Bangladeshi OTT platforms on 1 November.
