Ambe Group (Nepali: अम्बे समूह) is a business conglomerate headquartered in Kathmandu, Nepal. Its businesses include manufacturing, consumer electronics, real estate and financial services. It was founded by Shovakar (Hari) Neupane in 1982 as a commodity trading business. By the year 2022 this group has a total of 10 subsidiary companies and over 4000 employees benefited directly.[1]
History
Ambe Group was founded in 1982 by Shovakar (Hari) Neupane as Ambe International, a commodity trading business that imported electronics and garments from Hong Kong and Singapore. After 20 years of international trading business, Ambe Group began to diversify and started to establish manufacturing plants.
Ambe Cement
In 2004, Ambe Group established Ambe Cement Pvt. Ltd., a cement grinding factory, in Parwanipur, Parsa District, which produces OPC and PPC under two brand names; Ambe Cement and Hi-Tech Cement. Along with other cement brands, Hi-Tech Cement was once banned back in 2017 for not meeting NS Standards.[2]
Ambe Steels
In 2009, Ambe Group established Ambe Steels, Pvt. Ltd, a steel rolling mill, in Bhairahawa, Rupandehi. All the products are manufactured under ISO 9001:2008 and holds NS 191, NS163/169 standards for producing TMT Rebars and GI Wires.
Commertz and Trust Bank
In 2011, Ambe Group established Commertz and Trust Bank, a national level ‘A’ class commercial bank in Nepal. The bank was later acquired by Global IME Bank Limited in 2014, which was a merger between two 'A' class banks for the first time in Nepal.[3]
Ambe Mobiles
In 2015, Ambe Group established Ambe Mobiles as the sole distributor of LAVA mobile phones in Nepal.
Jay Ambe Steels
In 2019, Ambe Group established Jay Ambe Steels Pvt. Ltd., in Nepalgunj, Banke District, which also manufactures steels under the brand name of Ambe Steels.
Recently Jay Ambe Steels Pvt. Ltd. was converted to Jay Ambe Steels Limited from July 13, 2022.
Joint Venture Projects
Riddhi Siddhi Cement and Shaurya Cement
In 2019, Ambe Group established Riddhi Siddhi Cement Pvt. Ltd, an integrated cement plant with a capacity of 2200TPD, in Hetauda, Nepal. It is a joint venture with Shankar Group.[4]
In 2021, Ambe Group established Shaurya Cement Industries Pvt. Ltd, an integrated cement plant with a capacity of 3000TPD, in Mirchaiya, Nepal. It is a joint venture with C.K Golchha Group and Shankar Group.[5]
Welfare
Earthquake Relief Fund
When Nepal faced a devastating earthquake on April 25, 2015 and lost more than 9000 lives, through Ambe Cement, this group gave NRs. 3.9 Million to the government for the reconstruction of affected schools.
Covid-19 fund
In April, 2020, Ambe Group contributed NPR 2.5 million to Covid-19 prevention and control fund established by Nepal Government.[6] [7]
Other Prestigious Projects
Ambe Steels products have been used in various prestigious projects of Nepal such as Parliament Building (Singha Durbar), Dharahara (Sundhara), Bir Hospital, Nepal Rastra Bank, Dry Port at Chobhar, Nagdhunga Tunnel Project, Super Dordi Hydropower and Sanjen Hydroelectric Project to name a few.
