Amberstone Security
Amberstone Security is a supplier of intelligence and security services across the United Kingdom and Europe, with a focus on technology, e.g. retail loss prevention, electronic article surveillance and CCTV. Their headquarters are in Saffron Walden, UK, with offices in Mansfield, Edinburgh, and Dublin.
History
Amberstone Security has its origins in the acquisition of Cardinal Security by Amberstone Technology in 2018[1]. Cardinal Security was founded by current Amberstone Security Chairman Jason Trigg in 2003, and Amberstone Technology was founded in 2010[2]. The latter bought Cardinal Security in 2018 and created Amberstone Guarding[3]. Amberstone Guarding then became Amberstone Security in 2019[4].
In 2021, Amberstone Security reported sales of more than £77 million[5]. In 2022, Amberstone Security received strategic investment from Argenbright[6][7][8].
Services
Amberstone Security provides a number of security services, including security guards for businesses and events, video surveillance, business intelligence, vehicle management and ANPR systems, tethered drones and shopping cart tracking[9].
Leadership
The current Managing Director of Amberstone Security is Dan Hardy, who served in the Grenadier Guards for five years and worked for the Metropolitan Police for 13 years. Hardy was also Head of Risk at G4S, and Corporate Crime and Security Lead at Sainsburys[10]. Hardy was appointed Managing Director of the National Business Crime Solution in 2017[11]. In 2021, Hardy stood as an independent candidate for the role of Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner[12].
Amberstone Security's CEO is currently Andrew Gillies, who was the co-founder of Amberstone Technology[2]. Amberstone Security's current Chairman is Jason Trigg[13].
Clients
Amberstone Security's clients have included: Amazon, Asda, Boots, Gap, Grosvenor Casinos, IKEA, Levi's, M&S, Peloton, Primark, Signet Jewelers, Starbucks, Waterstones, Wilko and Wimbledon. In 2021, Amberstone Security signed a contract with Tesco, agreeing to provide 700 security officers across more than 300 stores in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the north of England[14]
