Ambi M.G. Parameswaran

‘Ambi’ M G Parameswaran (born 1955) is an Indian marketing and advertising industry veteran and author. He currently serves as Advisor to the Management Board of the FCB Ulka Mumbai Group[1] and is also the President of Advertising Agencies Association of India.[2]

Parameswaran he has also authored seven books on topics related to marketing, brands and consumer behaviour. His book For God's Sake - An Adman on the Business of Religion was published by Penguin in early 2014. [3]

Education and career[edit]

Parameswaran is a chemical engineer from IIT Madras[4] and has an MBA from IIM Calcutta.[5] He did his PhD from Mumbai University and his thesis was on Religiosity and Consumer Behaviour.[6] He has in course of his career worked with companies like Rediffusion Advertising, Boots Company, UDI Yellow Pages and was also voted one of 20 most influential people in Advertising by Economic Times Brand Equity Survey 2005. [7] [8] He was Executive Director and CEO of FCB Ulka Mumbai [9] and has since 2013 turned Advisor to the Management Board.[10] [11]

Parameswaran also was the President of Advertising Club Bombay [2003-2005].[12] [13] He is a member of the Board of Governors of IIM Calcutta,[14] an independent director on Galaxy Surfactants Ltd,[15] and Real Image Media Technologies Ltd.[16]

Writing[edit]

Parameswaran turned author in 2001 with FCB Ulka Brand Building Advertising – Concepts & Cases published by Tata McGraw Hill, New Delhi.[17] Since then he has authored six more books as well as from regular articles and columns in publications. His book ‘Building Brand Value’ won the NTPC DMA Book Prize in 2007.[18] His book For God's Sake - An Adman on the Business of Religion explores how religion and culture plays an important role in influencing consumer behaviour.[19][20]

Parameswaran has been a speaker at numerous seminars and conferences including Jaipur Literature Festival 2014, Kellogg India Business Conference.[21]
