Ameren UE Tower
Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck". Ameren UE Tower is a unique combination of electricity pylon and radio tower near Ameren's headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. It is a 106.5 meters tall (with antennas on pinnacle 111 meters tall) steel lattice structure, which was erected in 2009 and carries two high-voltage three-phase systems on 3 crossbars at half height.[1][2]
In contrast to other transmission towers that support antennas, the height of the Ameren UE Tower is not determined by its function as electricity pylon, but rather by its use as a radio tower, which requires a much taller design than for a pure use as electricity pylon. The used structure has the great disadvantage that the installation of larger antennas on the top, which requires a crane or a block and tackle, is obstructed by the crossbars and conductor cables. Also switching off of the high-voltage three-phase systems is required.
