American Fence Company is a U.S.-based company that provides fence materials and fence installation services.[1][2] David Van Denburgh is the current president and chief executive officer of the company.[3][4]
American Fence Company operates through three divisions: rent-a-fence, installation, and material sales.[5][6] It has 16 branches across nine states in the U.S. and is headquartered in Arizona.[7][8]
The company serves the commercial, industrial, and governmental sectors, specializing in installing fences for various infrastructures, including airports and sports facilities.[7]
History[edit]
American Fence Company was established in 1948 in Arizona by J.P Van Denburgh and his wife Betty Van Denburgh.[5][9] The company eventually split into two divisions: The American Fence Co., overseen by John Van Denburgh III, catered to the retail and rental sector.[10] By 1997, it had 32 branches west of the Mississippi River.[10] Conversely, the manufacturing division was named American Tube & Pipe Co. and was managed by David Van Denburgh.[10]
In 1997, the company divested 75 percent of its ownership and invested approximately $6 million in technology upgrades, incorporating systems from J.D. Edwards based in Denver.[10] That same year, there was a shift towards technology within its retail and rental operations.[10] A two-year initiative aimed to unify business operations and integrate them with contemporary technology at eight sites.[10] This technological shift enabled automated fence measurements and construction planning.[10]
In 2016, the company received the Patriotic Employer Award from the Department of Defense.[11]
