American Underwater Products (AUP) is a cooperation located in San Leandro, California and houses several major scuba diving brands in its 120 000 square foot (36 500 square meter) floor building. It specializes in advanced life-support equipment manufacturing and owns facilities around the world. It designs, develops, manufactures and tests majority of produced diving equipment in their own facilities.[1]

All AUP products which are sold in Europe are subject to periodic testing and qualification for CE certification. AUP also has the internationally recognized ISO 9001:2008 designation.[2]

American Underwater Products was founded in 1972 by Bob Hollis. In 2013, Bob Hollis stepped down as the CEO of the company and appointed his first born son, Mike Hollis as the new CEO.

In order to continue revolutionize diving, Bob Hollis has created several companies under the American Underwater Products family.

Oceanic[edit]

Established in the 1970s, Oceanic is a manufacturer and a supplier of sport scuba diving gear. Its products are sold worldwide.[3]

Aeris[edit]

Since 1998, Aeris has been manufacturing sport scuba diving gear and freediving gear. Its products are sold worldwide.[4]

In September 2014, Aeris has merged with Oceanic. Product lines were combined and Aeris brand has been since on sold exclusively under Oceanic brand.[5]

Hollis[edit]

Since 2009, Hollis is a manufacturer and supplier of technical diving gear including rebreathers, wings and harnesses, technical dive computers and special underwater need equipment.[6] Its products are sold worldwide.

LavaCore[edit]

LavaCore is a manufacturer and supplier of exposure protection products used not only in diving, but also in windsurf, kitesurf, surf and other water sports. LavaCore has a worldwide distribution.[7]

OceanPro[edit]

OceanPro is a supplier of snorkeling and beach gear. Worldwide distribution.[8]

Pelagic Pressure Systems[edit]

Established in 1979, Pelagic Pressure Systems is the OEM specializing in instrumentation. The company supplies mechanical and digital pressure sensing instruments to the recreational scuba industry, life-support industry, military, and industrial safety industry. Pelagic Pressure Systems manufactures gauges from start to finish. It purchases raw materials and transforms them into finished products to be tested, calibrated and packaged for the end user, all on-site. It is now owned by Aqua Lung America[9]

ROMI Enterprises[edit]

Established in 1984, ROMI Enterprises is one of the largest machining plant where all metal parts used in AUP’s products are being produced.

ROMI’s name came from the combination of the name Bob (Hollis) and his oldest son Mike creating Robert + Mike = ROMI.

Oceanic entered the regulator market in 1983 with the innovative side exhaust Omega, an easy breathing machine that is still on the market. ROMI has its own automated assembly area. As with Pelagic Pressure Systems, all ROMI products are designed and made in-house.

2002 Design[edit]

Established in 1994, 2002 Design is a company dedicated to design, prototyping, testing and technical documentation of all products produced by American Underwater Products.

PRO A[edit]

Pro A is a factory located in Taipei, Taiwan and specializes in production of tools, injection molding and assemblies.

ACE[edit]

ACE plant was established in 2005 in Wuxi, China and specializes in OEM of diving masks and underwater lights.

Military Division[edit]

American Underwater Products' military division was established in 2002 to manufacture and supply products to US Government including products such as NavBoard, sensors for CO2, combat diver display mask or rebreather.
