Berlin Döner Kebap is a fast food restaurant chain specialising in Turkish cuisine, dominated by a variety of falafel and kebab dishes.[2]
The first restaurant opened in Szczecin in 1998.[3][4] The franchise headquarters are based in Mierzyn.[5] As of November 2017, the restaurant chain franchise operates 36 outlets across Poland.[6] Presently, the restaurants are located in the following voivodeships: Greater Poland, Lesser Poland, Łódź, Lower Silesian, Lubusz, Pomeranian as well as the West Pomeranian Voivodeship with 15 restaurants, the highest concentration nationwide.[7][8][9] The restaurants are generally located in shopping malls.[10]
The restaurant chain is structured as a franchise, with each restaurant having its own owner, paying the chain for a license and know-how information. For a private restaurant to enter the franchise, it must: have a minimum annual capital of 200 thousand PLN; be located in a shopping mall or food court with a minimum floor space of 50 squared-metres; be located in a settlement with a population of over 100,000 people or be located in an economically intensive zone (i.e. Mielno, a resort town).[11]
