American University of Nigeria library

The AUN Library was established in 2005  to provide information and help in research work of the institution. The library is now known as the Department of Digital Services, the library made up of E-learning center and Robert A. Pastor library is located in the Main campus of American University of Nigeria. The library is the 1st in Nigeria to set up a virtual library.[1]

Structure[edit]

The Department of Digital Services which consist  of 1,000 seat capacity,19 study rooms and 18 classes has PCs and desktops which are useful for the students and other users.

The library previously known as the American University of Nigeria, library  has three floors of which the first is used for passing out information on its general activities[2]

Collections[edit]

Most of the collections of library are accessed online (softcopy) with about just 1% in printed copies from the Robert Pastor e-library . There are about 20-30 shelves of books as well as 210,000 e-books.

Also in the AUN library, there are printers, scanner and telephone which makes the service cost friendly and lessen storage[3]

Awards[edit]

Some of the awards include:

  • Best Digital library Services in Nigeria, 2012 by Association of University Librarians of Nigerian Universities
  • Innovative International Library Project Award in Chicago, 2013 by American library Association.[4]

Achievement[edit]

Various staffs in Yola institutions have been a beneficiary of training programmes from the library, some of these institutions include the Federal college of Education and Modibbo Adams University of Technology.[5]
