Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa also known as Malam Daurawa (born 1 January, 1969) is a Nigerian religious cleric, scholar, and matrimonial coach. He is the founder and former General Commandant of the Islamic religious police Kano State Hisbah Corps which is popularly known as the morality police in Kano State.[1][2]
Early life and education[edit]
Aminu Daurawa was born on January 1st, 1969 as Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Bilal into the family of Sheikh Ibrahim Muhammad Bilal who was popularly known as Mai Tafsiri and his mother Hajiya Sa'adatu Mustapha at Gidan Zakara-Mai-Neman-Suna Unguwar Fagge, Kano State. His father is an Islamic teacher and tailor, he teaches in the evening after coming back from workshop and his mother is from Bachirawa, Ungogo local government area of Kano State.[3]
Raised from an Islamic background, Aminu Daurawa was sent to Islamic Qur’anic school at an early age which gave him the opportunity to memorized the whole Qur'an at 14 years old. Daurawa also attended his primary and secondary schools in Kano.[4]
Career[edit]
Aminu Daurawa is an active Islamic preacher in Nigeria among the Izala Society, he founded the Hisbah Corps in Kano and became its' first chairman, the main aim of the organization is to eradicate immorality in the society specially among the Muslims (Islamic religion adherents) and was registered under the Kano State Commission for Religious Affairs.[5][6]
