Amit K. Pandey is an Indian roboticist, scientist and public speaker.[1] He is the president and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Science Officer (CSO) at Hanson Robotics, Hong Kong,[2] the company that created the Humanoid robot Sophia.[3][4][5] He served as the General Chair of IEEE International Conference on Robot & Human Interactive Communication, RO-MAN 2019, and attributed with playing key role in bringing the conference for the first time in the Indian subcontinent.[6]
Education & career
Amit completed his B.Tech from JIIT, Noida, India in 2005. In 2007, he obtained MS by Research in Computer Science and Engineering with a specialization in Robotics from International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, India. He obtained his Ph.D. in Robotics from INSA (National Institute for Applied Sciences), University of Toulouse, France. His Ph.D. thesis titled as Towards Socially Intelligent Robots in Human-Centred Environment, was conferred as the best three theses in Robotics in Europe for the prestigious Georges Giralt PhD Award in 2013 and eventually awarded the Second Prize (tie).[7]
Amit worked as Head Principal Scientist of SoftBank Robotics Europe (formally Aldebaran Robotics) until April 2014. He was also the head of collaborative research and development at SoftBank Robotics.[8] Currently, he is President, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and Chief Science Officer (CSO) at Hanson Robotics.[9]
He is a Thought leader in the field and has spoken to many public platforms, and international conferences.[10]

- Pravashi Bihari Samman Puruskar 2014 by Chief minister of Bihar, India[11]
- Among the three finalists in Robotics in the Entire Europe for the Georges Giralt PhD Award 2013, Awarded by European Union Robotics.[12][13]
