Amma pregnancy tracker is a mobile femtech application for pregnant women and families. The application is downloaded by 10 million users a year, mainly from Central Asia and Latin America.

History[edit]

The application was created by entrepreneur Evgeny Zhikharev in Hong Kong in 2019. During his wife's pregnancy, Evgeny encountered a lack of reliable sources of information and decided to develop a mobile app that would collect articles on women's health, broken down by weeks of pregnancy.[1]

During the first year of operation, the application was downloaded more than one million times without advertising. In 2021, the number of downloads reached 10 million per year. The app features health charts as well as evidence-based articles from medical sources, which are prepared by medical editors. In 2020, Olga Zamyatina, who joined the company as Editor-in-Chief of Women's Health, became the Content Director for the app.[2]

Research[edit]

In 2021, Amma pregnancy tracker conducted a study of 19,761 women from 171 countries: 82% of respondents said they would like fathers to be more involved with pregnancy.[3]

Investments[edit]

The company is based on a venture model. Amma raised its first $1.6 million pre-seed fund from the Israeli fund Prytek, a key investor, in 2019. In March 2021, the company received $250,000 from SOSV and entered the Chinaccelerator and MOX acceleration programs in Southeast Asia.[4] At the end of 2021, as part of the pre-A round, $2 million was raised from a group of international funds and business angels. In 2021, the company's annual income reached $250,000 a month, and the valuation was for $28 million. At the end of 2022, Forbes included the amma pregnancy tracker in the list of potential "unicorns".

Awards[edit]

Amma pregnancy tracker has received a number of international awards: Content Marketing Awards 2021,[5] Go Global Awards 2021,[6] Health Tech Digital Awards 2021 [7] and Digital Health Awards 2021.[8] The company was included in the SOSV Human Health 100 healthcare startups list.[9] Research company JCMR included amma pregnancy tracker in the global top 10 pregnancy apps.[10]
