Amol Kagne (born 7 January 1991) is an Indian filmmaker, producer, actor and writer, who primarily works Bollywood, South Indian films and Marathi movies.[1] He is known for producing Halal (2016) and Bhonga (2018), latter won National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi.[2]

Personal Life[edit]

Kagne was born to father Laxman Kagne and mother Surekha Kagne on 7 January 1991, in Latur, Maharashtra, India. She has a sister Pritam Kagne, who is also an actress.[3] He received a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatics degree from Lalit Kala Akademi. Kagne also completed his study in speech-language pathology and audiology from Pune.[4]

Career[edit]

Kagne founded his own production company, Amol Kagne Films, in 2016.[2]

In 2016, he made his filmmaking debut with Halal, a social drama directed by Shivaji Lotan Patil, which went on to earn numerous accolades and capture as many as 47 awards nationally and internationally. The film was first showcased at the Pune International Film Festival in 2016 and later screened at the 2016 Aurangabad International Film Festival. Additionally, it received six awards at the 53rd Maharashtra State Film Awards.[5] His next project as a producer, Lathe Joshi, also received substantial accolades.[3]

The feature film Bhonga which was produced by Kagne, received the prestigious National award for Best Marathi film from the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind in 2019. The film was theatrically released in September 2021, and won Filmfare Best Film Critic award in 2022.[6][7]

Recently, Amol wrapped up the shooting of his new film 'Lockdown Lagne'.[8]
