Amos Genish (Tel Aviv, 1960 [1]) is an Israeli corporate executive, appointed chief executive officer of Telecom Italia on 28 September 2017.
Personal Life[edit]
The fourth of twelve brothers, he was born in Netanya, where he spent his childhood. He majored in business administration at Tel Aviv University.
Career[edit]
Amos Genish served as a captain of artillery in the Israel Defense Forces during the 1982 Lebanon War, then he worked for the accounting firm Somekh-Chaikin (now part of KMPG International)[2]. Later, he joined the newly founded Edunetics as a Vice Chairman, leading the company to its Nasdaq stock exchange listing with its CEO in 1992. He then took over his predecessor, keeping the role of CEO until 1996.[3] He moved to Brazil and in 1998[4] he founded «Global Village Telecom» GVT together with the entrepreneur Joshua Levinberg, whom he had met during his USA years. GVT came as a start-up in a New Economy at its peak and in a few years it became Brazil’s main provider in terms of ultra-wideband. GVT was sold for $ 4,2 bln to the French Vivendi, interested in the fibre optic technology. [5] During his years at the lead of the French firm, Genish kept his role of CEO.
Vivendi[edit]
On Jan 5th, 2017 he was appointed CEO of Vivendi. [6] From Jun 2011 to Jun 28th 2012, Genish was a member of the Management Board of Vivendi.
Telecom Italia[edit]
he was appointed chief operating officer of Telecom Italia.[7] He takes up the role of Chief Executive Officer on September 28, 2017. [8]
