During the 1997 Asian financial crisis, at the age of 21, Lee spent about a year practising simulated stock trading on a daily basis to familiarise himself with financial markets.[2] He later entered the real estate industry while continuing to invest in the securities market as an amateur investor, which enabled him to earn his first significant capital. From the late 2010s onwards, Lee oversaw the expansion of FM Investment Group with the opening of new offices in Osaka, Tokyo, London, Singapore, Taipei, Beijing, Shanghai, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.[1] He has also been involved in the development of property projects in core locations in Osaka and Tokyo.[1]
