On 14 August 2019, THQ Nordic bought the investment arm of Goodbye Kansas, Goodbye Kansas Game Invest (GKGI). GKGI was later rebranded Amplifier Game Invest to reflect its new ownership.
History
Amplifier Game Invest was founded in 2016 by Goodbye Kansas Group in Stockholm. Later, the company began investing, with Palindrome Interactive being the first.
In 2017, Amplifier invested in Fall Damage.
In 2018, Amplifier invested in Neon Giant, Kavalri Games.
In 2019, Amplifier invested in Framebunker. Later, Amplifier Game Invest was acquired by Embracer Group.
In November 2019, Amplifier acquired Misc Games.
In December 2019, Amplifier acquired Tarsier Studios.
In January 2020, Amplifier established River End Games and C77 Entertainment.
In May 2020, Amplifier acquired DestinyBit.
In August 2020, Amplifier acquired Palindrome Interactive, Vermila Studios, Rare Earth Games, and Kavalri Games.
In November 2020, Amplifier acquired Silent Games, Quantic Lab, and established Plucky Bytes.
In May 2021, Amplifier acquired FRAME BREAK.
In October 2021, Amplifier established Zapper Games and Goose Byte.
In December 2021, Amplifier acquired Green Tile Digital.
In February 2022, Amplifier acquired A Creative Endeavor.
In March 2022, Amplifier acquired Invisible Walls.
In August 2022, Amplifier established Infinite Mana Games and C77 Entertainment. Quantic Lab became part of sister company Freemode.[3]
In January 2023, Amplifier established Studio Hermitage.
In June 2023, Embracer Group announced that it would immediately begin implementing a large-scale restructuring programme focused on cost reduction, comprising layoffs, studio closures, and divestments, and project cancellations until March 2024.
In August 2023, Amplifier sold off Vermila Studios and Goose Byte and closed Plucky Bytes.[4]
In October 2023, Amplifier sold Fall Damage to Fragbite Group.[5][6]
In November 2023, Amplifier sold River End Games to Nordcurrent.[7][8]
