Amy Lasek

Amy Lasek is a professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Virginia Commonwealth University. A neuroscientist, she studies the brain mechanisms underlying Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). Lasek's research aims to find new treatment targets by identifying the specific genes and signaling pathways that drive AUD using behavioral, pharmacological, molecular, and cellular techniques using transgenic mice.

Education

Amy Lasek received her Bachelor's degree in Biology and Biochemistry (1988–1992) from Case Western Reserve University. She then completed her doctoral studies at Cornell University (1992–1998), where she received her PhD in Cell Biology and Genetics. She was also a Graduate Research Assistant at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (1992–1998) during that time.
