Amy Pence-Brown is a body image activist.[1]
Biography[edit]
Pence-Brown went to the University of St. Thomas, where she got her masters degree in Art History.[2] After schooling she moved to Boise, Idaho with her husband and three children. She currently works as an architectural historian specializing in research on the environment of Idaho and as a school garden coordinator for Hawthorne Elementary School.[2][3]
Pence-Brown has spoken in the media on and engaged in performance art about body positivity.[4][5]

- On March 9th, 2017 Amy was honored as Top 50 Women of the Year, Idaho Business Review.[6]

Activism[edit]
The Stand For Self Love[edit]
On August 29th, 2015 Pence-Brown performed "The Stand For Self Love" at the Capital City Public Market in Boise, Idaho.[8] For the performance Pence-Brown stripped down to a black bikini and held a sign that stated "I’m standing for anyone who has struggled with a self-esteem issue like me, because all bodies are valuable. To support self-acceptance, draw a heart on my body."[9] The performance lasted for an hour, during which people were invited to draw hearts or write words of positivity on her body.[4]
Boise Rad Fat Collective[edit]
On August 22, 2013 Pence-Brown started the Boise Rad Fat collective, which aims to help support the members' self-esteem and meets both online and in-person.[10][11]
