Anas Ibrahim Al-Dogheim (Arabic: أنس إبراهيم الدُّغيم; born 8 July 1979) is a Syrian poet, writer and novelist. He published his first book in 2002 until the events of the Syrian crisis erupted in 2011, which was a turning point in his literary life.[1][2][3][4][5]
Biography[edit]
Al-Dogheim was born in the town of Jarjanaz in the Maarat al-Numan in Idlib, and grew up there in a middle-class family consisting of 14 members. He studied in the schools of his hometown, then joined the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Damascus University, but he did not complete his studies. He completed his higher studies in Jordan since 2004, where he obtained a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Philadelphia University in 2008.
After graduating, he returned to his homeland, and worked in pharmacy for two and a half years, then joined the Syrian armed forces in compulsory service and was a lieutenant, and his service began in early 2011. Then he defected from the Syrian army. In the tenth month of the same year, during the Syrian crisis, he returned to his village.[6][7]
In August 2015, a poetic argument took place between him and Dhahi Khalfan on Twitter.[8][9][10]
