Andriy Olenko
Andriy Olenko (Ukrainian: Андрій Оленко) is an Australian-Ukrainian researcher working in areas of probability theory, statistics and their applications. He currently works at La Trobe University, Australia.
A.Olenko was born on 18 June, 1966, in Uman', Ukraine. In 1983-1988 he studied at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine. He got his Ph.D. in 1991 from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine. The thesis Spectral and Correlation Theory of Random Fields was defended under supervision of Professor Mikhailo Yadrenko[1].
A.Olenko worked as an Associate professor of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv during the period 1992-2007. At the same time A. Olenko had a part time job as an Associate Professor at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Ukraine. He is a staff member at La Trobe University, Australia, since 2007[2][3] [4].
A.Olenko has published more than 100 research papers and made substantial contributions to the theory and statistics of stochastic processes and fields, stochastic approximation, and applications of stochastics methods, in particular in signal processing and cosmology. He is also authored several textbooks for university students [2].
A.Olenko supervised to completion: 7 PhD theses[1], 3 Masters by research theses, 2 postdocs, more than 20 Masters by coursework theses, more than 30 honours theses. He is a member of on editorial boards of 4 international journals.
He has active collaborations with several international research groups, in particular, Cardiff University(UK), Kyiv University(Ukraine), University of Rijeka(Croatia), Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), University of Granada(Spain), Institute of Information Recording Problems (Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences), Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Lille University (France), Regina University (Canada).
A.Olenko has received several large grants including Tempus-Tacis, NATO Science, Soros Science, ARC Discovery grants.[2]
