Angel Alberich-Bayarri is a Spanish bioengineer, researcher and entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of Quantitative Imaging Biomarkers in Medicine (QUIBIM), His main research activity is related to the application of artificial intelligence methods to radiology and medical imaging.
Education[edit]
Alberich completed his Telecommunications Engineering in Electronics from Polytechnic college of Valencia. He also earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the same university.
Career[edit]
He also served as a Research and Development Engineer and as a Director of Biomedical Engineering at Quiron Hospital Group. At the Polytechnic University of Valencia, he worked as a Professor of Advanced Medical imaging. He conducts seminars in the field of Master of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Zaragoza and the Master Advances in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiology at the University of Granada.
In 2012 he founded, together with Prof. Luis Martí-Bonmatí and other biomedical engineers, the company QUIBIM, Quantitative Imaging Biomarkers in Medicine.
Research work[edit]
His researches are mostly related to imaging biomarkers information system and the application of artificial intelligence methods to radiology. His research also includes a study of smart analysis algorithms for medical images.[1][2][3][4]
His research on the parametric finite element model proved that it enables the researchers to evaluate various types of medial patellofemoral ligament reconstructions (MPFLr) and also observed an patella contact pressure at 0 and 30° of knee flexion.[5][6]
Awards[edit]
Alberich has been awarded with the European Pro-Academy Award, and Award for the best scientific contribution in the field of Oncology (2014), the Young Innovators under the age of 35 from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).[7]
He is also one of the Board Member of European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics (EUSOMII) and also serving as a member of the E-Health Committee of the European Society of Radiology.[8][9]
