Anil Kumar Jha (Nepali: अनिल कुमार झा, Nepali pronunciation: [ɔːnɪʟ dʒʱɑː]; born 27 March 1972) is a professional in the education sector of Nepal. He is Deputy Head of the Kathmandu Chapter of Civil Society of Nepal (NENAS). [1] He also serves as the District Chairman for Maithil Brahman Sabha,[2] a Nepal-based consortium of Maithil Brahmins, one of the major five denominations of Pancha-Gauda Brahmins. Since 2007 he has been employed as the principal of Shree Rashtriya Higher Secondary School, a government school in Sankharapur, Kathmandu. Formerly, he has served as a board member of Higher Secondary Education Board of Nepal from Central Region until 2014.[3][4] Additionally, he has worked as the former Chairman of Nepal National Teachers Association and Eastern Region Joint School Committee of Kathmandu and also as the Vice-Chairman of Nepal Student Union. He is regarded as an influential youth leader in education sector of Nepal, renowned for his aggressive leadership and speech qualities.[5][6] He has received many awards, the most notable among them is Kathmandu District Education Award in 2011 for his teaching qualities in Mathematics.

Early and Personal Life[edit]

Anil Kumar Jha was born in Sonamai-7, Mahottari District, in Mid Southern Nepal as the third child to Gulab Jha and Pabitri Devi Jha. He was born in the village of Shadha, however when he was 3, his family emigrated to the village of Agaleshwara. His parents still live in Agaleshwara as normal farmers. Mr. Jha is an alumnus of Tri Chandra College, Kathmandu. He later attended Tribuwan University where he received his Master's Degree in Education (M.Ed.). He has a younger brother named Sunil Jha and three sisters, Sundar Mishra, Bibha Mishra and Niva Jha.

He is married to Bibha Jha, the daughter of Bhogendra Jha, a local headmaster, and late Bhavani Devi Jha. The couple have three sons Pratyush Jha, Abish Jha and Abhishek Jha. Pratyush is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, while Abish is undertaking undergraduate studies in Engineering Physics at Ramapo College of New Jersey, USA. Abhishek has recently graduated high school from SOS Hermann Gmeiner HSS, Bhaktapur.

Anil began his working career as Lower Secondary teacher in Tripureshwor Secondary School, Ramechhap on 18 October 1990 at the early age of 18. He soon however quit teaching and arrived in the capital city, Kathmandu to achieve Bachelors' degree in Tri-Chandra College, where he became a cadre of Nepali Congress Party and soon a prominent student leader, taking active participation in movements. After graduating with a Bachelors' degree from Tri Chandra College, he started a temporary teaching career in Ganesh Secondary School Chapali in 1993. After obtaining a permanent position in Ganesh Secondary School as a secondary level teacher in 2003, he started working as a part time secondary teacher in Shram Rashtriya Secondary School, Gaurighat. In 2007, at an early age of 35, owing to his admirable job as a teacher and a leader, he was appointed headmaster of a government school - Shree Rastriya Higher Secondary School. After this his career has been in an uplift and currently is at the zenith.

Alongside, Jha is regarded as one of the best trainers of secondary school teachers in Kathmandu. In addition to his professional career, he has served as Chairman and Executive Committee member in numerous associations and organization in Kathmandu. He became the Chairman of Nepal Teachers Association for a tenure of two years from 2005-2007; and worked as an HSEB board member for 4 years from 2010-2014. He was appointed the Acting Chairman of Nepal Civil Society in 2012 and District Chairman of Maithil Brahman Sabha in 2015. He was praised for his active participation in the Relay Hunger Strike of Nepal Civil Society on July 26, 2012, which was a popular event of the time.[7][8][9] [10]
