Anil Shaji (Malayalam:അനിൽ ഷാജി) is a theoretical physicist working on the area of quantum physics.[1] He was born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India in 1976. He is the son of Shaji N. Karun, the famous Malayalam film director. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Kerala. In 1998 he received a Master of Science degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, India. Then he moved to the University of Texas at Austin and completed his Ph.D. in physics "on open quantum systems and quantum information" under the guidance of Prof. E. C. George Sudarshan. After that, he did a postdoc at the University of New Mexico, working in the information physics group with Prof. Carlton M. Caves. Then he joined IISER – Thiruvananthapuram as an assistant professor in the school of physics in June 2009.[2] He is also a member of the American Physical Society. The reputed scientific journal *Nature* had quoted his work in *Nature News*. [3] He is a collaborating member of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics.[4]

Contributions

Together with Prof. E. C. George Sudarshan, he has given the non-relativistic proofs of the spin-statistics connection.[5][6]
