Animal Toonz is a very popular channel, originally launched in 1987 by PTBC, Animal Toonz would air several types of animated shows for children and teens in Peppaland, as well adult entertainment under an adult block called ATAdultz, ever since their launch. Animal Toonz has been expanding to more countries and more programming has been introduced, Animal Toonz would later get purchased by the Samtonian Mass Media company Ultrax, giving Animal Toonz more chances of expanding worldwide.[1]

Animal Toonz owns studios in Asia, Latin America, North America, Peppaland, Samtonia, Australia as well their exclusive studio in Japan, as well several channels which share their programming or air different programming, Animal Toonz programming can be seen along with Ultrax's on Ultrax+ (Ultrax's Streaming Service), and JaxonCheaply.[2]

Animal Toonz is also famously known for their music videos released in the internet, those being You Got Tooned and The Animal Toonz Pop!.[3]

Their website can be seen here.

History

In June 1986, PTBC employee Max Jameson suggested a channel with children's content, they started planning what it would be airing as well animation for idents. However the channel was started from scratch days later after employees weren't satisfied with the results, after several tries, they decided to change the channel's focus to "an animation channel where they would show content for kids and teens" after that idea, they started once again planning the graphic design for the channel.

On July 7, 1987, the channel would be officially launched as Animal Toonz and they showed various programming, more programming would be introduced in the next months, the channel started getting a very big audience afterwards, PTBC would start negotiating with international provideers to bring Animal Toonz worldwide, with their very first feed being Pontypandy, launching on December 17, 1987, as a result, Animal Toonz would start launching in more countries.

TSW Television would later buy a 50% stake of Animal Toonz in 2001, making AT owned by both the PTBC and TSW Television.

In May 2019, Samtonian Mass Media company Ultrax has announced that they would be buying Animal Toonz for $8 Million from PTBC and TSW, this left several Animal Toonz fans worried since this could cause trouble for the channel and might end up shutting down or merging with Ultrax's children channel called Ultrax Kids, the deal was completed in July 2020, and Ultrax announced that they WON'T be shutting down Animal Toonz, but will seek on expanding the brand as a whole, making fans relieved. After the deal was done, months later, Ultrax would start expanding the Animal Toonz brand by opening new channels, though this has caused some consequences such as the "Animal Toonz Movies" block being discontinued in favor of a channel, said changes received mixed reception, but to this day, Animal Toonz and all of their sister channels still have a big audience to this day, with new programming being introduced and in some cases, new feeds for countries being created.[4]

Adult programming was officially incorporated into Animal Toonz in 1998 under a new night-time block called "ATAdultz" and later afterwards, their German feed would feature adult programming since Animal Toonz is a free-to-air channel in Germany like other international channels in Germany, a standalone ATAdultz channel was launched in 2020.
