Animation Memes is a short animation, commonly made by amateur or self-taught animators, up to over a minute which includes a song or audio clip [1]. Many animation memes have been created over the course of the decade. The first animation meme or concept to a song is called an original meme. An original meme is made by one person, and it is later recreated by other animators using their own characters and ideas. The earliest examples of animation memes include the Caramelldansen Dance and Leekspin. Many artist/animators have become well known due to these animation memes.
Types of Animation Memes[edit]
There are animation memes who fall into different categories. These categories depend on the contents and intention of the animation.
- Gifts - Usually made with other people's characters, meant for someone specifically. These include birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, and gifts just because.
- Vents - Usually these are personal and convey the negative feelings of the animator. These are coping mechanisms
- Positive vents - Usually convey positive feelings of the animator. These are usually to express the happiness that the animator feels.
Anyone can make these and do not pertain to any certain person.
Well Known Animation Meme Creators[edit]
These are well known animators who have created animation memes. Many found their fame around 2016, their characters and stories are very well known amongst the community. Many are young adults or teenagers, which is the common age demographic for the community.
- Rossali (born July 19, 1998) - A Polish animator who's best known character is Rossali, a purple anthropomorphised fennec fox.
- GhostfaceNikol (born January 22, 1999) - A Lithuanian animator who's best known characters are CreamPuff and CreamPie, yellow anthropomorphised bobcats.
- TWISTED DOCTOR (born September 22, 2001; formerly Sleepykinq) - An Italian animator who's best known character is Mystery- a purple anthropomorphised cat.
- Kittydog (born February 6, 2003) - An American animator who's best known characters are Crystal, Puppers, and Fluffen- a white amalgamation of a cat and dog, a blue dog, and a pink cat.
- Stariaat (born December 4, 1998) - A Brazilian animator who's best known character is Annie, a white anthropomorphised cat.
