Anita Gupta is a chief executive, medical doctor-pharmacist.[1][2][3][4][5]

Early life and education[edit]

Gupta was born in Philadelphia and raised in Camden County, New Jersey[6]. After completing dual-degrees in pharmacy (B.S) and a doctorate in pharmacy (Pharm.D.)[7], she start working at Organon[7]. After pursued her doctorate of osteopathic medical degree (D.O.)[8] she completed her anesthesiology residency at Georgetown University School of Medicine[8] and interventional pain fellowship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.[9] In 2018, Gupta graduated from Princeton University[10] with a master's in public policy (MPP, HHP)[8] and in 2020 from Harvard Business School from the General Management Program[8]. She was named an ambassador to the Harvard Business School General Management Program[11] In 2022, she was named regional co-president of the Harvard-I Alumnae Network of Women and regional director of the Harvard Business School Healthcare Alumni Association[12][8]. She is the first physician graduate of both Princeton University and Harvard Business School[8]l.

Career[edit]

Gupta was appointed at University of Pennsylvania as faculty after completing her medical residency and later she spent 10 years at Tenet Healthcare, Hahnemann University Hospital[7] working on the opioid crisis and intractable pain[13][14][15]. During her work in Philadelphia she was appointed as an advisor to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration[16] and became an public health advocate for the expansion of the opioid antidote naloxone in coordination with the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the FDA [17]in 2015[18]. In 2016, she noted that a case of naloxone resistance in Philadelphia due to increasing synthetic opioids in illicit substance use[19] . She worked with Heron Therapeutics to address breakthrough development of a non-opioid alternative to address the unmet needs of patients[20] . In 2019, she was appointed to the Global Forum of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine [21][7]. She also an advisor to the US Department of Defense[22]. In 2021, Gupta became the chief executive of the Strata Group, Inc.[23][24] Gupta also spread awareness on vaccines, prevention,[25][26][27][28][29] and treatments.[30][31][32] during the peak emergence COVID-19[16]. In 2019, Dr. Anita Gupta authored the Power of Ideas at the Milken Institute on Empowering Patient-Centricity for the Future of Health. later named a member of the Milken Institute.[33]
