Anita Silwal born in Kathmandu Nepal, is an acclaimed television personality, Host, Anchor and Philanthropist. She finished schooling from Bhanubhakta Memorial Higher Secondary School, Kathmandu Nepal. She has completed master's degree in Sociology from Tribhuvan University and master's degree in Innovation and Technology from Florida Polytechnic University. Anita is also a Miss teen Nepal 2007 runner up.[1] Anita Silwal has also played starring roles in various Nepali movies.[2][3]

Early life and family[edit]

Anita was born in Kathmandu Nepal, and debuted as a starring child actress in the movie Sannani at the age of four. She has completed schooling from Bhanubhakta Memorial Higher Secondary School. She's also performed the starring role in a historic movie, Adikabi Bhanubhakta, as Bhanubhakta.[4] Along with her rise in the Nepalese film industry, Anita signed up in a starring role for the youth TV series, Catmandu, broadcast by Nepal Television. She also worked as a child model and was heavily involved in the social awareness campaigns and advertisements.

TV Host / Anchor[edit]

In 2010, Anita Silwal started working for News24 television as 8 PM Prime News Anchor. She has hosted hundreds of "News Live" section, an interview section of the prime time news. She started working as a talk show host for well-liked and popular day time talk show "Issue of the Day". Her talk show was focused on the politics, social and women issues. For her day time talk show she has covered the live protest event "Occupy Baluwatar" by the women at Prime Ministers residence, Baluwatar. Silwal has raised women health rights issues, female child infanticides, and interviewed national and international people including International Planned Parenthood Federation officials. She has equally advocated for developmental and environmental issues. One of her most popular interview with ICIMOD (International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development) Director David Molden raises the concerns of rising glacial lakes and its potential impact in Nepal and Asia. Her interview has questioned the status quo of international organizations involvement in Nepal and their contribution in achieving Millennium Development Goals in Nepal. Silwal has also taken a special interview with Habitat for Humanity International Global CEO, Jonathan Reckford.[5] Anita has also hosted the bi-weekly program, Prahari Anurodh, produced by Nepal Police and was broadcast on Nepal Television. Silwal has also interviewed Otara Gunewardene[6] for MTV Good Morning Sri Lanka Show. The breakfast show watched by millions of Sri Lankan's Island wide. Anita was also featured for Young Person of the Month for October 2018 at Opportunity Desk.[7] Anita is a graduate student in Innovation and Technology at Florida Polytechnic University and her story was also featured in Florida Polytechnic student news.[8] Silwal is also the Producer and Host of the "Hometown Sheros" program for a non-profit, welcome womanhood.

Social Involvement[edit]

Anita Silwal is the Founder of Welcome Womanhood, a non-profit established to empower girls around the world through education and media. Currently, the organization is working in Nepal, Florida, Kenya and Malawi. Anita is also women health right advocate. She serves as a Central Youth Working Committee Member in Family Planning Association of Nepal.
