Ankit Arora (cyclist)
Ankit Arora, from Jaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan, is a record holder amateur cyclist and freelance journalist best known for his travels around India on a bicycle.[1][2][3]
Career[edit]
Arora worked for Genpact between 2014–16 and later as a journalist for Arbit newspaper, based in Jaipur, India. His last job was as a content writer before he left for the cycling journey.[citation needed]
Cycling challenges[edit]
In 2016, Arora, 27 years old at the time,[4] earned an India book of record entry by cycling continuously for 69 hours (besides short breaks for food and water) to cover 702 kilometers along the Golden Triangle. He used a gearless bicycle and promoted solar-energy during the journey.[2] record was for both India Book of Records and for Limca Book of Records by covering the Golden Triangle route solo.[4]
Arora left home on 27 August 2017 to pursue a bicycle journey across all of the states and UTs in India. He accomplished his goal, he told The Hindu, on a "shoestring budget."[2] His goal was to set a Guinness World Record by travelling 29 states of India in 150 days. As of early July 2018, he had covered 12 states and six UTs in 310 days and 14,000 kms.[citation needed]
