Anna Bogdanova[edit]
(born 09 of march 1984) is an Estonian simultaneous interpreter, teacher and Tallinn official guide. Her working languages are Estonian, Russian, English, Spanish and Portuguese (Brazilian). She is an official Tallinn guide in Spanish and Portuguese, being the first guide being licensed in Portuguese in Tallinn. And also the only trained simultaneous interpreter with Portuguese in Estonia and neighbouring countries.

Anna completed her secondary education in 2003 in Tallinn Linnamäe Russian Lyceum and entered the same year Tallinn University's Department of Education, majoring in Adult Education (andragogy) and minoring in Spanish language and literature. Next year she won Erasmus scholarship and spent second year of her studies in Madrid university Universidad Pontifica Comillas de Madrid ( ICAI-ICADE). On returning to Tallinn she joined Portuguese classes in then recently open Portuguese language center of Tallinn University. Later she acquired another bachelor degree in Music, again in Tallinn University. Eventually, in 2019 she graduated from a 2-year master's program of Conference interpreting that jointly with DG-SCIC prepares simultaneous interpreters for EU institutions such as European Parliament and European Commission, which is different form Community interpreting, that typically deals with topics of social security, housing, education and other public services.
Career[edit]
After returning from Madrid in 2005 Anna started teaching Spanish in several Tallinn language schools, mostly in TEA and Multilingua. Later acquired teaching experience on upper secondary lever in Audentes Upper secondary school. During the pandemic teached Estonian as second language to adults and Portuguese as second language at Tallinn Folk High School.
Right after returning from Madrid Anna also started working as a Spanish-speaking tour guide in Tallinn. Later, after having mastered some Portuguese, also in Portuguese. She passed the exam to become a certified Tallinn city guide in Spanish and Portuguese, in Portuguese being the first one to do so. Subsequently she joined the Tallinn Guides Association and participated in the evaluation of candidates for the title of certified guides in Spanish and Portuguese, and trained younger colleagues.
Having spent a year at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid, Anna got a chance to get some initial training in conference interpreting at the Spanish university. After returning to Tallinn, she got to practice interpreting first in Spanish language assignments, later also with Portuguese. Around 2017 Brazilian TV made a documentary on Estonian digital governance which brought a lot of Portuguese speaking delegations to Estonia, starting with representatives of public transport companies and secondary school teachers and principals in 2017.
