Early life[edit]

Pascoe was raised in Camborne, Cornwall, attending Roskear County Primary School and Camborne School and Community College. She went on to read Politics and German at the University of Southampton, graduating with an honours degree in 2004.

Official duties[edit]

Pascoe was a Liberal Democrat Town Councillor in Camborne, Cornwall from 2007-2013, where she chaired the Council's Budget and Development Committee.[1]

Pascoe also represented the Town Council in dealings with the National Probation Service and the West Cornwall NHS Primary Care Trust.[2]

During her term on Kerrier District Council, Pascoe chaired the Council's Strong Communities Committee, sat on the Council's Overview and Scrutiny Management Board, the Cornish Language Panel, and the Audit Committee.[3]

Electoral Record[edit]

Camborne Town Council[edit]

Pascoe was elected to Camborne Town Council in 2007 and stood down in 2013.[4]

Kerrier District Council and Cornwall Council[edit]

Pascoe sat on Kerrier District Council from 2007 until the council was disbanded in 2009 in order to form Cornwall Council. Pascoe stood for election in the subsequent Cornwall Council election in 2009, finishing in third place for Camborne South,[5] and also subsequently stood at the by-election for Camborne North in 2011, again finishing in third place.[6]

Devon South West[edit]

Pascoe stood as the Liberal Democrat candidate for South West Devon in the parliamentary elections in 2010. This constituency is viewed as a safe Conservative seat,[7] having been occupied by a Conservative MP, Gary Streeter, since its formation in 1997. Pascoe finished in second place, with 24.1% of the vote.[8]

Political views[edit]

Regarding the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition in parliament, Pascoe went on record in 2011 as saying "there is no coalition in Cornwall for the Conservatives and the Lib Dems – we are two very distinct parties and local people recognise that".[9] She publicly spoke out against the closure of Camborne Job Centre in 2008,[10] and has also gone on record on the subject of the routing of the local Olympic torch, which local politicians said ignored some areas of Cornwall such as Camborne in favour of better-known but more sparsely populated seaside towns.[11]

She is a signatory to the Rethink Mental Illness campaign manifesto,[12] which campaigns for greater awareness and understanding of mental health issues.

While campaigning in South West Devon (in the 2010 general election), she went on record in favour of more affordable homes for local people,[13] proposed minimum alcohol pricing to tackle anti-social behaviour,[14] and also called for a local referendum over the proposed sale of Plymouth Citybus, then one of the last publicly owned local bus operators in the UK, to a private operator, saying "once Citybus is sold, that's it. Yes, there's some cash from the sale, short-term, but that will go and then we'll be left with nothing. We have something that works. We should keep it".[15]

Personal life[edit]

Anna is Business Development Manager at Cornish Orchards, a cider and soft drinks company based in Duloe, Cornwall.[16] Previously she was Business Development Manager at the Primrose Valley Hotel, St Ives, where she won the Excellence in Environmental Training Award from Cornwall College Business.[17] Anna regularly takes part in charity sporting events, most recently completing the 2013 Cornwall Air Ambulance Runway Runaround 10k,[18] and the Marie Curie Swimathon 2013.[19]
