Annamalai Kuppusamy (born 4 June 1984) is a Former-IPS Officer and State President of Bharatiya Janata Party - Tamil Nadu since July 2021[1]. Previously, he served as the party’s state Vice-President in Tamil Nadu[2][3]. He also formed a non-profit organisation named We The Leaders Foundation. As an IPS Officer, he has served as ASP of Karkala Sub-Division of Udupi District, Superintendent of Police in Udupi and Chikamagaluru Districts and Deputy Commissioner of Police of Bengaluru South.

Early life and family[edit]

Annamalai is the son of Kuppusamy and Parameshwari. He completed his schooling in Karur and Namakkal districts and then moved on to obtain graduation in Bachelor of Engineering from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. Following that, he completed his Masters’ of Business Administration at the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. He also cleared UPSC Civil Services Examination as a topper of the batch.

Indian Police Service[edit]

He joined Basic Training Sardar Vallabhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad (Telangana). He got posted as Assistant Superintendent of Police, Karkala sub-division in Udupi district of Karnataka in September 2013. he was later promoted in January 2015 as Superintendent of Police and served there till August 2016. He was then transferred to the Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka and continued as a Superintendent of Police till October 2018. He got promoted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru south.  

Political career[edit]

He started his political career with Bharatiya Janata Party in August 2020. As the State Vice-President[2][3], he was part of the committee which negotiated an alliance with AIADMK in the National Democratic Alliance. He got an opportunity to contest in Aravakurichi Assembly Constituency, and he garnered a vote share of 38.9% to rise as the first runner-up in the constituency. In his one-year tenure as State President of Bharatiya Janata Party- Tamil Nadu[1], the party has positioned him to be the primary opposition party to the incumbent-State Government and the third largest party through the performance of the party by contesting outside alliance in Urban Local Body Elections with a vote-share of 5.61% across TN.

Social life[edit]

After his resignation, he became interested as a speaker and organic farmer. he is also the founder of We the Leaders Foundation (WTLF)[1] it is a non-profit organisation promoting organic agriculture, modern agriculture tech, and other training activity. He also started IAS coaching institutions for poor and deserving candidates in Karur and Coimbatore districts. He has written many books[4][5] on various topics like corruption, political system, economy, police work etc.
