Anoushiravan Mohseni (* 2. November 1976 in Teheran) is an austrian Actor, Musician und Martial artist with Iranian roots.

Life[edit]

Anoushiravan Mohseni comes from a musical and military family in Teheran. During the First Gulf War in 1985 he came from Tehran to Vienna together with his mother and brother. In Vienna he first attended the secondary school Schopenhauerstrasse. He then completed his high school diploma for building construction.

Mohseni learned the Persian instruments tombak and daf from his father Jahangir Mohseni and from the grandmaster Jahangir Malek from the age of eight. From the age of 13 he performed, first with family and friends and later in international concert halls.

Mohseni trained in martial arts from the age of 13, first wrestling, later Kickboxing and Muay Thai. He became European champion on March 11, 2000 - 75 kg in K-1 and the following year on September 22, 2001 also world champion by KO in Thai boxing.[1] He ended his career as a martial artist and trainer in 2012 and he gave up his job as a bodyguard in 2017.

During this time Mohseni also worked in the construction industry as a General contractor in Vienna[2], but since 2013 he has mainly worked as an actor.

Acting Career[edit]

In Iran, Mohseni acted primarily in action and war movies. Mohseni made his film debut in Austria in 2013 in the movie "Shirin - The Honor of My Sister", which he produced himself. The short film describes the revenge campaign of an Iranian student who wants to atone for his sister's suicide after she was raped. A year later he participated in the film "The Last Dance" by the Iranian filmmaker Houchang Allahyari, which won the Diagonale Grand Film Prize as the best Austrian feature film in 2014.[3] In 2015 he took on the leading role in the Austrian short film "Merkenstein" directed by Florian Bayer. In 2018 he was nominated for an award for his role in the Iranian film "Sniff" at the FICTS (Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs) Festival in Milano. Mohseni became well-known as an actor in 2020/21 through his role as "Abdullah" alongside Harald Krassnitzer in the Austrian feature film "Taktik" directed by Hans-Günther Bücking and Marion Mitterhammer-Bücking. The police film goes back to a real event in 1996, when a group led by the criminal Adolf Schandl took three hostages in the high-security prison in Graz.
