Biography

Antón Álvarez studied in the San1 Viator school until he finished high school. After that, he studied a degree in Philosophy at the Complutense University of Madrid. It was in 2006 when he began to be known using Crema as a pseudonym. His demos started to circulate among youths that were attracted by underground hip hop. In May 2008 he presented his demo "Agorazein", in a moment in which artirsts such as Nach, Violadores del Verso, El Chojin o SFDK stood out in rap music.

The singer born in Madrid reappeared in 2011, under his new name C. Tangana. Previously, he had already collaborated with some singers of indie music but this latest adventure with his band Agorazein deserves negative reviews as well as compliments and new followers interested in his new sounds and projects. C Tangana earned a living working in a Pans and Company and in a Vodafone call center at the same time he was composing his new songs. In December 2012, he released his new work LO▼E'S, which he considered his best work so far.

As of January 2013, he decided to be completely isolated from the media living in his house in the neighbourhood of Pueblo Nuevo without Internet or television. He was lost/immsersed in a serious personal crisis to confront a fame which he wasn't very comfortable with. He spent almost two years without releasing any song and thinking that music would never again be an objective.

However, in the summer of 2015, he found out a hole on the international musical industry. That event totally changed his way of exposing himself to media. Since he understood that an artist is always interpreting itself, he strongly opted for separating his private life from his character C. Tangana. In that way, he turned marketing, mass communication and artist's exhibition into something fun. He started doing an intense social media activity which was defined by the great expectation he generated with each one of his apparently calculated actions. It caused he launched his work 10/15 in October 2015, in which he used some instrumentals of the Canadian singer, Drake.

Next year, he made his first performances under his alter ego C. Tangana in Latin America, where he was already successful during his period with Agorazein. In the summer of 2016, he launched the hit Antes de morirme which led him to the number one on Spotify Spain. In this hit, he collaborated with the flamenco singer Rosalia and the producer Alizzz, who would be his best musical partner in the following years.

After the success of the C. Tangana Latino Tour, in 2017, it was officially announced his signing with the record company Sony Music. He released with this company his global hit "Mala Mujer", number one in Spain. This song reached the higher positions of the top hits playlists of Spotify of different European and Latin America countries. It became the summer hit of 2017 and received the double Platinum Record, first certification of C. Tangana career. The success of his album "Ídolo" with songs such as "De Pie" o "No te pegas" placed him as one of the most exponents of urban music in Spain. The next year his mixtape Avida Dollars was released and it was similarly praised by critics. On 21 June 2018, he released his hit "Bien Duro" with the aim of reaching the top positions of global playlists as he did with "Mala Mujer". The single is a real success and is considered to be one of the summer hits of 2019. This song received the Golden Disc in Spain.
