Antelope Reef (Chinese: 羚羊礁, Vietnamese: Đá Hải Sâm) is located in the southwest part of the Crescent Group in the Paracel Islands in the South China Sea.[1] It is 3.5 nautical miles to the east of Money Island. It is approximately a triangular closed coral atoll with lagoons.[2] The reef is 12 kilometers long from north to south, and its widest point is about 4 kilometers. Large areas are exposed at low tide and are often submerged by sea during typhoon tide. There are artificial berms on the Antelope Reef, and Chinese fishermen who fish here are often stationed. There is a police monument of "China · Xisha Antelope Reef Police Area".
Antelope Reef is currently under the de facto control of the Government of the People's Republic of China, and its administrative division is under the jurisdiction of Xisha District, Sansha City, Hainan Province. It is under the direct jurisdiction of the Sansha City Yongle Islands Management Committee and has its own division called Antelope Residential Community. The Vietnamese government also claims its sovereignty.
