Apar Gupta
Apar Gupta is an Indian lawyer who serves as the Executive Director of the Internet Freedom Foundation. He was elected to the Ashoka Fellowship in 2019.[1][2]
Education
Apar attended Mount St Mary's School and has a postgraduate degree from the Columbia University School of Law.[3][4]
Career
Prior to becoming the Executive Director of the Internet Freedom Foundation, Apar practised law for more than a decade. He worked as a commercial litigator in law firms such as Karanjawala & Co. and was a partner at Advani & Co. His work as a lawyer included key digital rights cases on privacy and censorship. He was included in the Forbes India 30 under 30 list in 2014.[5]
In 2015, he along with others launched SaveTheInternet.in, a public driven campaign on issues related to net neutrality.
Internet Freedom Foundation
In 2018, Apar took over as the Executive Director of Internet Freedom Foundation, a non-governmental organisation that conducts advocacy on digital rights and liberties, based in New Delhi. IFF files petitions and undertakes advocacy campaigns to defend online freedom, privacy, net neutrality, and innovation.
