Aparup Chakraborty (born 22 April 1982) is a Match Commissioner of All India Football Federation, Technical Director Indian Football Association (West Bengal) Futsal Committee.[1][2][3] ICC, BCCI and Cricket Australia accredited cricket coach[4] and former right hand batsman who played for Sikkim Under-19s.

Chakraborty was born in Kolkata, on 22 April 1982.

Career[edit]

Cricket Career[edit]

Chakraborty, represented Sikkim in the "BCCI Vinoo Mankad Trophy" in 2006. He had undergone "Laser in Retina" which punctuated his career later as the "State Cricketer". His passion to play for India continued . He represented Haryana in Indoor Cricket from 2005-2007 and then played for Bengal from 2008-2013. Aparup represented India in Indoor Cricket from 2006-2013. He was the captain of the Indian Indoor Cricket Team in 2 consecutive Indoor Cricket World Cups (2009 & 2011).

Cricket Coach[edit]

Chakraborty completed his National Cricket Academy Level A Coaching Course in 2011 at The Cricket Association of Bengal. He has served CAB as an "Observer-Cum -Spotter" for the Under 14 age category during the season 2011-12. He did his ICC Level 1 Coaching course from ICC Academy, Dubai in 2013. Chakraborty completed his Level 2 Coaching Course in 2018 under Cricket Australia WACA, Perth, Australia. He has taken him to the next level as a coach to work with the team "Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League" as a "Assistant Coach cum Analyst" in 2016.[5]

In association with Cricket Australia (CA), He started Straight Drive Cricket Academy and launched six-level Cricket Education Programme (CEP) in kolkata.[6]

He was the coach of the physically challenged national squad. The team played the first tournament under his guidance in the Tata Steelium Cup, a T-20 tri-series held in the Eastern Railway Sports Complex, Behala.[7]

Career as Football Administrator[edit]

Career at All India Football Federation[edit]

Chakraborty passed the "Match Commissioner’s Exam" in 2017. His first assignment as an AIFF Match Commissioner was a game between the U13 teams of Rainbow AC and United Sports at the Kalyani Stadium in October 2017. He completed his century by officiating the match between Maharashtra and Gujarat in the West Zone Qualifier of Santosh Trophy on 28th September, 2019, Goa. He has officiated more than 200 AIFF Matches including the prestigious Santosh Trophy, Durand Cup, Hero ILeague 2nd Division and Hero Futsal Club Championship. Apart from this he has been involved in "AIFF Youth & Elite Leagues - Under 13, Under 15 and Under 18". He has been also working in grassroots since the inception of "AIFF Golden Baby League (GBL)".[8]

Journey with Indian Football Association[edit]

Chakraborty was selected as the member of "Futsal Sub Committee of Indian Football Association WB" for 2014-15. He has been working as the Technical Director for IFA since 2019 and unanimously selected as the member of the standing "Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee" for the year 2021-22. In 2020 he became the youngest Match Commissioner to officiate the historic IFA Shield. He has also officiated Kanyashree Cup in 2019-20.

Aparup’s Contribution in promoting FUTSAL in India[edit]

-Aparup connected AIFF CEO Mr. Sunando Dhar  with Mr. Lozano, President of LNFS Spain and his Team  so that AIFF can have a Technical partnership with the Spanish Futsal  League and he suggested to launch Futsal Academies in India to develop Grassroots Football.

This meeting also initiated conversation on the exposure of the Futsal Club Teams under AIFF and participate in the Tournaments or play Friendly against the Spanish Club Teams ( to start with the B division Teams)

This Virtual Meeting was organised by Aparup on 8th of June ,2021 .

Aparup on behalf of LNFS Spain shared a proposal email with a Draft Agreement to AIFF CEO Mr. SunandoDhar.  In response, Mr. Deepak John Nayak , AIFF Futsal coordinator said he was not interested in taking this forward.

- He organised a  Free Workshop on Futsal-on 29th April, 2022 with More than 150 Coaches  Registered across India .  It was conducted by Mr Luis Estrela, Technical Coordinator , SL Benfica Youth Football Teams and Coach , Women’s Futsal Team - SL Benfica.

- Introduced FIFA Futsal Laws of the Game in Bengali ( Audio Visual)  for the regional Referees and Regional Club officials to simplify the Game and made easier to organise in grassroots level. (2021)

- On behalf of IFA , Aparup Initiated AIFF Online Futsal Introductory Course to promote Futsal amongst the football fraternity .(2021)

- IFA and CRA jointly organised ‘Referees Workshop on Futsal ‘ in 2021. Aparup was involved as a core member from IFA.

- Introduced Futsal Analytics in AIFF Golden Baby League in 2019-20 season to create data and handed over to the respective Coaches to take into the next level.

- Aparup Organised Under 12 Girls’ Futsal Tournament in 2021, first of its kind in West Bengal.

- In 2022 he sponsored the Venue and organised the State Association’s IFA FUTSAL LEAGUE .

Aparup’s name was recommended by Indian Football Association (WB) to AIFF to include his name in the AIFF’s newly formed Futsal Committee.

Presently Aparup Chakraborty is Head of Futsal Development of Minerva Academy (Champion of AIFF National Club Championship 2023), Delhi FC ( Champion of AIFF National Club Championship 2021-22) and Techtro Swadesh United FC ( I-League 2)
