Apex Fantasy Leagues is a fantasy football provider based in Andover, Massachusetts that runs and commissions online fantasy football money leagues. Founded in 2013, they have since been featured by such fantasy football websites as Yahoo Sports.[1], Rotoworld[2], and others.
Background
History
Apex Fantasy Leagues was established in 2013 by University of Arizona alumni Michael Braude and Asher Molk, who created the website after years of playing fantasy football in their youth. Upon the website's creation, Braude and Molk proceeded to survey various fantasy football players to determine market preference for league settings – a stated goal of the company. Apex specializes in hosting season-long leagues with a variety of formats including redraft leagues, dynasty leagues, and auction leagues. According to its website, Apex’s goal is to provide a combination of high payouts to winners and a skill-based format to lessen the effect of luck in determining the outcome of contests.
Since 2014, Apex has gained recognition in the fantasy football community for their leagues and for running the “Apex Expert Writer’s League”[3] which has many of the most well-known fantasy football analysts from Rotoworld, ESPN, NFL.com and other sites compete in one of their leagues.
In 2017, Apex partnered with DataForce Fantasy Football. After many new regulatory laws related to fantasy sports were passed in various states, Apex partnered with Dataforce to ensure Apex could remain structurally similar amidst emerging state regulations. According to its website, "DataForce will be responsible for all regulatory and compliance requirements…” while Apex would continue to act as its own entity providing fantasy football leagues.[4]
Blog
Since its founding, Apex Fantasy Leagues has run a free fantasy football blog featuring content and studies related to fantasy football. Some of these studies include the ideal, or "peak" ages for running backs[5], wide receivers[6], and tight ends[7]
