The site hosts only games that they believe are non-violent and educational.[2][4]
Shutdown hoax
On the 22 of February 2019, the popular YouTuber PewDiePie played Cool Math Games on a stream in an attempt to avoid T-Series overtaking him in subscribers.[5]
Rumors began spreading in Summer 2019 that Cool Math Games would be shutting down in 2020 due to the discontinuation of Adobe Flash Player and a petition on Change.org to stop it shutting down even reached over 100,000 signatures.[2][6][3][7] However, Cool Math Games confirmed that it would not be shutting down and was focusing on getting new HTML5 games and converting old Flash Games to HTML5.[3][2]
