AppRiver is an email and web security firm with global headquarters in Gulf Breeze, Florida, USA. The company operates additional offices in Austin, Atlanta, New York City, Lupfig and Barcelona.[1]

History[edit]

AppRiver was founded in 2002 in Gulf Breeze, Florida, with the goal of delivering applications to businesses through the Internet.[2] Their first product was an email security service that filtered spam and viruses from incoming email, and is called SecureTide.[3]

In 2006, AppRiver began to offer a Hosted Exchange service,[4] and it used SecureTide to filter mail for this platform as well.

In addition to hosting these services, the company introduced email encryption in 2009, followed by web protection in 2011.[5] In June 2011, AppRiver also joined Microsoft as a syndication partner for the launch of Office 365.

Awards and milestones[edit]

AppRiver has been included in the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in the United States since 2007. In 2013 they were also included in the Inc. Hire Power Awards for outstanding job growth over an 18-month period.[6]

The readers of MS Exchange have selected AppRiver as the top Hosted Exchange platform in their annual survey in 2009, 2010, and 2013.[7]

Florida Trend magazine has also named them one of the best companies to work for in Florida starting since 2009.[8]
