Aqua Data Studio[edit]
Aqua Data Studio is an integrated development environment (IDE) for data sources such as Microsoft Excel and databases. It integrates database management, database design, database administration, SQL programming, data management, and visual analytics into a single application software. Aqua Data Studio is intended for use by software developers, database administrators, business analysts, and data analysts. It is commonly used for exploratory data analysis and data visualization, specifically for business intelligence.
Aqua Data Studio uses proprietary database drivers to connect to a range of databases including relational databases, NoSQL databases, and cloud databases. It also uses the Java database connectivity (JDBC) and open database connectivity (ODBC) application programming interfaces (APIs) to interact with databases via JDBC and ODBC database drivers. It integrates with the programming language R for computational statistics.
Aqua Data Studio is a desktop application software that is written in Java with a graphical user interface. It is proprietary software that is distributed under a software license for commercial software as trialware.
Aqua Data Studio is being developed by AquaFold, Inc. which is a division of Idera, Inc. in Houston, Texas.

Features[edit]
The prominent features of Aqua Data Studio are [29] [30]:
- Database administration tools to manage core aspects of database servers with managers for database instances, storage, security, and sessions.
- An entity-relationship (ER) modeler [31] to create and manage entity-relationship diagrams, reverse engineer existing databases [32], design detailed physical entity-relationship diagrams, annotate [33], forward engineer, perform differencing, and generate HTML reports.
- Grid and pivot table charts to pivot data and create charts based on the pivoted data. Further, choose from a comprehensive range of chart types and customize each chart. All charts update in real-time based on the result set of queries.
- Import and export data of different formats to and from databases, database tables, database schema objects, and data files [34].
- A database scripting shell that combines the power of a SQL command-line interface with the versatility of a Unix shell.
- A JavaScript shell for MongoDB with nearly identical syntax and functionality to the native MongoDB shell.
- A search tool for database schema objects to quickly find any object within the database server. Focus searches by filtering for object type with wildcards and restricting searches.
- A scripting development environment with an open application programming interface (open API) to develop and debug scripts to automate database tasks using the full set of functionality of the application software.
- Compare and synchronize the data definition language (DDL) of database schema objects from different databases in the graphical user interface. See differences at the level of databases and objects and synchronize source schemas to target schemas. Use the same tool to compare result sets from SQL and folders and files on local machines.
- A secure shell (SSH) environment to register and connect to multiple SSH database servers and execute commands in a graphical user interface with tabbed windows. For added security, it also has a key generator and key passphrase agent.
- SQL debuggers to trace and debug stored procedures to identify any development or production issues.
- An advanced SQL analyzer to connect to any database server and execute queries [35] [36]. Format SQL, highlight syntax with color, and autocomplete to save time in writing SQL. View result sets of SQL in plain text, grid, pivot table, and form views with filtering and export.
- A table data editor [37] [38] to edit the result set of an executed query on a database table using the graphical user interface to alter data and add and delete database rows using an editable, spreadsheet-like grid.
- A full and integrated version control client for Apache Subversion (SVN), Concurrent Versions System (CVS), Git, and Perforce to manage scripts and other database files from within the application software.
- Visual analytics to create data visualizations and dashboards to explore and share. Recognize patterns and estimate trends to find opportunities for further analysis. Use filters, data labels, and database table calculations to create charts to improve business decisions, manage risk, and solve complex problems. Integrate with R for computational statistics.
- Visual explain query plans to display an execution query plan to tune queries to improve the performance of queries and database servers [39] [40] [41] [42].
- A Visual SQL builder to select database tables directly from the graphical user interface, and then specify database columns to retrieve, join, sort, and filter in a grid format. Along with selecting database tables and adding SQL parameters, the visual SQL builder generates complete statements that can be viewed, copied, and executed from the dialog window of the visual SQL builder.
