The Aranos Mine is a coal mine located in the Hardap Region, Namibia. The mine has coal reserves amounting to 300 million tonnes of coking coal, one of the largest coal reserves in Africa and the world. The mine produces around 8 million tonnes of coal per year.[1] Prospecting works started in 2008 with an investment of South African coal tycoon Kobus Smith.[2]
