Several mosques and other structures in the Islamic style were built during the reign of the Funj Sultanate and various other sultanates and empires.

British period

During the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan period, several buildings were constructed including St. Matthew's Cathedral, Khartoum and the Gordon Memorial College.[1]
