Ari Rastegar, full name Ariah-Hossein Rastegar, is a real estate investor and CEO of Rastegar Property Company in Austin.[1][2][3][4][5]
Career[edit]
Rastegar is a licensed attorney in Texas, and the founder and chief executive of Rastegar Property Company, an Austin-based private investment firm.[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]
He started his career with two $3000 loans, one borrowed from a friend’s father, and the other taken from scholarship money for school.[1] He invested the money in a small development of single family lake homes in Spring Branch, Texas.[14] This was the beginning of his real estate investing.[1]
After the real estate crash of 2007, he passed the Bar Exam and was licensed to practice law in May 2009.[15] He worked with Dallas attorney John Read before moving to New York.[16] Rastegar then worked on several acquisitions for Chelsea Hotels (then King and Grove Hotels)[1][17]. In 2013, he joined World Class Capital Group.[18][19][17][18]
Rastegar returned to Texas[20] and founded Rastegar Capital in 2015, a private investment firm investing in real estate.[21] He also developed an online education platform, Light Tower, to provide real estate investment education to investors.[22][19][17][16] In November 2016 the company name was changed to Rastegar Equity Partners, and then to Rastegar Property Company.[23][16][24] He invests across commercial real estate product types and the company is headquartered in Austin.[16][25][12][26][27] Rastegar has co-invested in about 40 buildings in 12 different states. Rastegar Property Company is focused largely multifamily space in Austin.[28][29] District Attorneys’ Retirement System of Louisiana is a client of two different funds.[16][30]
In 2019, Rastegar planned to build a 26-story tower in downtown Dallas, TX. Rastegar plans to lease the entire building to short-term stay firm, Sonder Corp.[31]
Education[edit]
Rastegar attended Richland Community College for a semester, then Blinn Community College before attending Texas A&M.[1][32] He graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and then attended St. Mary’s University Law School. Once there, he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence/Juris Doctor (J.D.) in May 2008.[33][18][16][24]
