Ariyel Kubani
Mohamad Hosein Karimi, known as Ariyel Kobani is an Iranian who went to Kurdistan Region of Syria also known as Rojava to fight Islamic State (ISIS) and was killed in a battlefield.[1]
Biography
He was born in Tehran in December 1990 in a Persian family. He was a college student. After the invasion of Islamic State into Kurdish and Izadis areas in Iraq and Syria, he decided to join Kurdish fighters known as People's Protection Units (YPG) in Syria. He was killed in a battlefield on May 9, 2015 in Talbukha in the city of Serkani in the Kurdistan Region of Syria. He was buried in Deyrak in the Jazira Canton in Rojava, the Kurdistan Region of Syria, in the absence of his family members.[2]
Significance
His voluntary expedition to fight with ISIS, his death in the battlefield and burial in Rojava, as an Iranian who voluntarily joined the fight against ISIS, has become a symbol of Iranian sympathy with the Kurdish people in Syria in their fight with the terrorist group ISIS.[3][4]
