FC Vaduz

2017-18 Season

After joining FC Vaduz on a free transfer in 2017, Majer played for the U17's team for a season but never made a senior appearance for Vaduz, despite being on the bench for their opening match of the season[1] and a further 6 matches of the 2017–18 Swiss Challenge League[2]

2018-19 Season: Loan to USV Eschen/Mauren

In 2018, Majer went on loan to USV Eschen/Mauren. He played his first league match on 22 September 2018, a 5:3 victory over FC Mendrisio.[3] He made 13 league appearances for Eschen/Mauren, and played in both of Eschen/Mauren's Liechtenstein Football Cup matches: a 5-1 win over FC Triesenberg and 1:0 loss to FC Vaduz[4]

USV Eschen/Mauren

On 24 May 2019, it was confirmed that Majer would continue at Eschen/Mauren after his loan deal expires, for the 2019-20 season[5]

International career

Liechtenstein U17

Majer was first called up to the Liechtenstein U17 squad for a match against Georgia U17s in their 2015 UEFA European U17 Championship qualification campaign on 26 October 2014, at the age of only 15, but was an unused substitute.[6] Exactly one year later he made his U17 debut, against the Czech Republic U17s[7] in a 4:0 loss. 5 days later he made his second and final appearance for the Under-17s, in a 3:0 European Under-17 Championship qualifier victory over Gibraltar.[8] He was the captain for both of these games.

Liechtenstein U19

At 16 years old, Majer got his first Under-19 cap in a 2016 European Under-19 Championship qualification match against Netherlands U19s, which ended a 2:0 defeat for Liechtenstein U19s.[9] He would make a total of 7 Under-17 appearances for Liechtenstein, getting his final cap on 14 November 2017 in a 6:0 defeat to North Macedonia U19s[10]

Liechtenstein U21

On 6 September 2016, Majer made his under 21 debut in a 4:0 loss to Israel U21s,[11] at the age of 17. However, Majer would not make another appearance for the U21s until 2 years and a day later, when he played in their 2:1 loss to Wales U21s,[12] as part of the team's 2019 European Under-21 Championship qualification campaign. Majer made 2 appearances for the U21s in 2018, in a 9:0 defeat against Portugal U21s[13] and a 4:0 defeat against Romania U21s.[14]

On 6 June 2019, Majer played for all 90 minutes of Liechtenstein U21s 1:0 victory over Azerbaijan, the first ever win for the U21 side and first time Liechtenstein avoided defeat in any under-21 fixture[15]. This means that Majer is the first and currently only Liechtenstein U21 goalkeeper to have kept a clean sheet[16]

Liechtenstein

Armando was first called up to the senior national side for two 2018–19 UEFA Nations League D matches against North Macedonia[17] and Armenia[18] in November 2018, and was also called up for the team's first four Euro 2020 qualifying Group J matches,[19][20] but so far is yet to make an appearance for the senior team.

Personal life

His brother, Claudio, is also a goalkeeper, and plays alongside Armando at USV Eschen/Mauren.[21] He is also a Liechtenstein youth international, having played from U17 to U21 levels, and has been called up to the senior squad but has no caps.

His father, Sven, is a Youth coach at FC Ruggell[22]
