Armando Teixeira is a Portuguese trail runner, coach, and sports scientist. He is a prominent figure in the Portuguese trail running community, known for his performances as an athlete and for his leadership role as the National Trail Running Selector for Portugal.
Professional Career
Armando Teixeira is a highly-qualified professional in the field of sports science. He holds a bachelor's degree in Sports Training with a specialization in Athletics from the Instituto Politécnico da Maia (IPMAIA). He further advanced his expertise with a postgraduate degree in Assessment, Planning, and Performance in Trail Running from the Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo (IPVC), where he is also a master's student in Sports Training.
In addition to his academic work, Teixeira serves as a professional coach and is recognized for his role as the National Trail Running Selector for the Federação Portuguesa de Atletismo. He is a multi-lingual coach, fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
Athletic Career
As an athlete, Armando Teixeira has competed in some of the most challenging ultra-trail races in the world. He has a notable history with the UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc), though his 2025 run ended in a DNF (Did Not Finish) due to a medical situation.
