Arsen Tomsky (born November 20, 1973, Yakutsk, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)) — the founder and CEO of inDrive, an international technology company, author of “inDriver: From Yakutsk to Silicon Valley. History of the creation of a global technology company”.

Education[edit]

Arsen Tomsky graduated from the Riga Civil Aviation Engineers Institute in 1992.[1], and from the Yakutsk State University in 1995 as an Applied Mathematics major[2][3]. In 2021, he graduated from the Stanford Executive Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business[4][5].

Career[edit]

In 1994, Arsen started his professional career as a software programmer in his hometown. In 1999, he founded SakhaInternet, which later became Sinet Group, and launched Ykt.ru[6][7][8][9][10]. In 2013, Arsen Tomsky founded inDriver (short for “Independent Drivers”), now inDrive[11][12][13]. The company started off as a passenger transportation service and over time, its portfolio expanded to include cargo services, intercity transportation, courier delivery, and urban services. Other services are being added[14].

In January 2020, inDrive raised its first substantial investment in the amount of $72 million, valuing the company at $472 million. The investment round was led by Bond Capital[15]. In early 2021, inDrive was recognized as a unicorn[16], following its $150 million investment round with participation by Insight Partners, General Catalyst and Bond Capital, which valued the company at $1.23 billion[17][18][19].

The service is currently available in over 700 cities across 47 countries. inDrive is headquartered in Mountain View, California[20].

Following Russia’s invasion into Ukraine in 2022, Arsen Tomsky opted for a complete relocation of staff to other countries by year-end[21][22][23][24][25][26]
