Arthur Leslie Wheeler (March 5, 1849 – May 9, 1917) was an American classicist, historian, and translator of classical works.
Biography
He was born on August 12, 1871, in Hartford, Connecticut.[1] He was the son of William Ruthven and Emily Elizabeth Crego Wheeler.[1] He married May Louise Waters on June 20, 1895.[1] He died on May 22, 1932, in Princeton, New Jersey.[1]
His obituary was published by the *New York Times*.[2]
Education
He completed his bachelor's degree from Yale University in 1893. He completed his Ph.D. in 1896.[1]
Career
He taught classics at Bryn Mawr University and Princeton University[1] and has been described as a leading critic of Latin poetry.[1]
