Artur Ter-Israelyan (Russian: Артур Мельсович Тер-Исраэлян; born 27 December 1979) is a Russian professional boxer with Armenian descent [1][2] is a sensational and unique boxer notable for remaining in shape and his knockout power despite being in his 40s, he also held the Russian Cruiserweight title and currently holds the ABCO Silver Cruiserweight title.[3]

Background[edit]

Most boxers have primes and when those prime passes, they start to weaken or in other words, "Father Time", mostly retiring at their late 30s or 40s, however, Israelyan is different, Israelyan began his boxing career late, started in 19 March 2022, when he was 42 years old, he boxed for the Shamo Boxing Promotions for several fights, including four of his bouts.[4]

Professional career[edit]

Debut[edit]

At the age of 42, Israelyan made his debut against compatriot journeyman, Artem Vychkin and made swift work, finishing Vychkin at the 2 minutes and 40 seconds mark of their first round out of 4 rounds clash.[5]

Israelyan vs. Zubkov[edit]

After defeating Uzbekistan's Ravshanbek Djabbarov and compiling a record of 4–0, Israelyan worked his way to his first titled bout (Unless the CIS title against Djabbarov mentioned in Sportball24 is certain[6]) facing tomato can yet worthy compatriot Alexander Zubkov for the vacant Russian Cruiserweight title at USC Soviet Wings, Moscow on 11 March 2023. On the match, Zubkov retired on his corner after dealing with an injury, thus, Israelyan's 4 win streak and 4 straight knockouts extends to 5s, according to the scorecards, Israelyan was winning all four rounds before the corner retirement.[7]

Israelyan vs. Ndafoluma[edit]

On 29 October 2023, Israelyan faces his toughest challenge yet and debuted outside of Russia and clashed in Istanbul, Turkey against veteran former IBO All-Africa, WBF (Federation) Inter-Continental and WBO Africa middleweight champion, Namibian boxer Lukas "The Demolisher" Ndafoluma for the vacant ABCO Silver and the less known WBC Middle East/MEBC Cruiserweight titles, in which Israelyan stopped his tough Namibian foe in a surprising two rounds, and looks forward to take the WBC International title and eventually become Russia's oldest cruiserweight champion.[8]
